‘Adds to the occasion’: Titans star’s NZ return in ‘special’ full circle Warriors moment

Kiwi and Titans star Georgia Hale is “excited to go home” and face the Warriors after a week off due to suspension, preparing to face one of two NRLW newcomers.

The Warriors rejoined the NRLW in 2025 after they initially were one of four founding teams in 2018, having departed the competition in 2021 to begin a five-year hiatus.

The Warriors, and Bulldogs, were the two fresh faces in this year’s competition, and Hale is no stranger to the ‘Wahs’ having played nine games for them across the years.

The 29-year-old was then forced to find a new club, linking up with the Titans where she has remained since 2021, coming desperately close to winning the 2023 premiership.

After sitting out for a week due to suspension, Hale believes travelling across the Tasman is a huge chance for her side to build on a Round 3 win.

“Yeah I’m really excited to go home I think it adds to the occasion. I’ve enjoyed watching the Warriors re-enter the competition this year but I see it as an opportunity,” she said.

“We’re hungry for another two points so although I get to play on an old home soil, just the opportunity to take the field again with the girls and build on what we have been working on over the last few weeks.”

Hale did admit getting a win over her former club, on home soil, would make her trip home extra special.

“Well I think any win is a nice win but I think it would probably add to the occasion having the opportunity to play in front of my family,” she said.

“Who I haven’t seen for quite some time so I think that makes it special.

“But the focus will definitely be firstly on the football and then it’ll be nice to see family afterwards.

“But we have the full intention of going there to get a job done against a physical and competitive team.”

During her week on the sidelines, Hale also said she sat in the coaching box with Titans mentor and women’s rugby league legend Karyn Murphy.

“I actually had the privilege of being in the box with ‘Murph’ so I think it gave me a little bit of an inside perspective through the lens that she sees,” Hale explained.

“As we know how passionate ‘Murph’ is and it was really nice to see some great glimpses across a 70 minute performance that she too could enjoy.”
